Categories of Allowances Reported by 7th Central Pay Commission

The entire range of allowances is administered in broadly four ways:

1. Fully DA-indexed–Allowances – e.g. Transport Allowance
2. Partially or Semi DA-indexed–Allowances – e.g. Field Area Allowance, Siachen Allowance.
3. No DA-indexation–Allowances – e.g. Reward for Meritorious Service.
4. Percentage based–Allowances – e.g. House Rent Allowance
