AIPCIN (BY 2016) for September 118
The new series of Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers Base Year 2016=100 is started from the month of September 2020 with official announcement.
The series of AICPIN is an important aspect to calculate Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for Central Government employees and Pensioners respectively.
The new series of CPI(IW) with base 2016=100 will replace the existing series with base 2001=100.
As per the new release of ‘AICPIN BY 2016=100’, the maiden index with base year 2016 for the month of September 2020 is stands at 118 points. And the linking factor for the conversion of new series index to previous series on base 2001=100 is 2.88.

How to calculate New AICPIN with linking factor?
The Labour Bureau published the linking factor for finding the new series of Consumer Price Index. For example, when the CPI BY 1982 introduced with the linking factor of 4.93 and the CPI BY 2001 introduced with the linking factor of 4.63. The same methodology followed and for the new series of CPI BY 2016 with the linking factor of 2.88.
How to convert the AICPIN from Old to new?
As per the press release, the new series of AICPIN 2016 is 118. And the linking factor for the conversion of the new series index to the previous series on base 2001=100 is 2.88.
