6 AIIMS Located at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur and Rishikesh
The Union Health Ministry has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with six AIIMS located at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur and Rishikesh, to provide cashless treatment facilities to all CGHS beneficiaries, including pensioners and other entitled categories. This new initiative will enable CGHS beneficiaries to access state-of-the-art treatment without the need to make payments and seek reimbursements from CGHS. The facilities available at the six AIIMS will be extended to CGHS beneficiaries on a cashless basis in both OPD and indoor treatments.
This move is particularly beneficial for senior citizens who find it challenging to submit individual reimbursement claims and follow up approvals. This new initiative will save time, reduce paperwork, and eliminate delays in the settlement of individual claims. In addition, CGHS pensioner beneficiaries availing treatment at AIIMS are required to make payments and claim reimbursement later from CGHS. However, this new initiative will enable credit bills to be raised for CGHS pensioners and other categories, making the process more efficient. The cashless treatment facility will also be available at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and GIPMER Puducherry in the future.
This initiative offers several key features, such as cashless treatment for CGHS Pensioners and other eligible beneficiaries in OPD, investigations, and indoor treatment at six AIIMS facilities. These hospitals will generate credit bills for CGHS Pensioners and other eligible beneficiaries, which CGHS will aim to pay within 30 days of receipt. Only those with valid CGHS Beneficiary ID Cards will be admitted for treatment at AIIMS. To assist CGHS beneficiaries, AIIMS will establish a separate Help Desk and accounting system. Additionally, prescribed medicines can be collected by beneficiaries through CGHS.
The Health Secretary praised this development and expressed the government’s commitment to expanding the number of hospitals empaneled under CGHS to meet the growing needs of patients. He also noted that AIIMS institutions in New Delhi, Chandigarh, and Puducherry will be included in this agreement in the near future. Rajesh Bhushan commented that this agreement would benefit many people by reducing lengthy formalities and increasing access to medical care. He added that the CGHS has revised certain rates of treatment and medical care, improving access to treatment facilities.
