Stipend to Apprenticeship in India

The minimum rate of stipend payable to all categories of apprentices including trade apprentices has been revised and notified in the Extra Ordinary Gazette of India dated 25th September 2019. The minimum stipend is based on educational and technical qualification requirements, prescribed in curricula of respective trades. The Apprenticeship Rule, 1992 as amended up to September 2019 prescribes that during the 2nd year of apprenticeship training, there shall be an increase of 10 percent in the prescribed minimum stipend amount and a further 15 percent increase in the prescribed minimum stipend amount during the 3rd year of apprenticeship training. Presently, Government is not considering increasing the stipend payable to apprentices. The minimum stipend paid per month to all categories of apprentices is as under :

(ii) School pass-outs ( class 10th) ₹ 6000 per month
(iii) School pass-outs ( class 12th) ₹ 7000 per month
(iv) National or State Certificate holder ₹ 7000 per month
(v) Technician (vocational) apprentice  or Vocational Certificate holder or Sandwich Course (Students from Diploma Institutions) ₹ 7000 per month
(vi) Technician apprentices or diploma holders in any stream or sandwich course (students from degree institutions) ₹ 8000 per month
(vii) Graduate apprentices  or Degree apprenticeship or degree in any stream ₹ 8000 per month  
(viii)   Skill certificate holder     
  1. stipend as per his/her educational qualifications as mentioned in the table above
  2. In case, he does not fall in any of the above categories, he/she will get a minimum stipend of INR 5000 per month.

ITI Apprenticeship Stipend Rate 2022

The old and latest revised minimum prescribed rate of stipend payable w.e.f. 01.04.2021 to the apprentices of the following categories under The Apprentices (Amendment) Act, 1973 & 2014 respectively are appended below:-

Revision of Rates of Stipend to Apprentices and Trainees in Railways

Consequent upon the revision in the training period of a few categories of Traffic and Commercial Departments, item Nos. 39, 41, 42, 45, 46, 47 of the Schedule of Board’s letters of even number dated 02-02-2017 (RBE No. 08/2017) stands modified as under:

The above-revised rates of stipend are applicable to those batches that undergo the modified training modules as indicated against the category

Revision of Rates of Stipend for Station Master in Railways

Consequent upon inclusion of training for the category of Chief Depot Material Superintendent/Pay Level -7 and revision in training period of Station Master/Pay Level 6 on upgradation of the post of Assistant Station Master to Station Master vide Board’s letter dated 02-8-2016 (RBE No.93/2016), item No.38 (stores Department) and item No.44 (Traffic & Commercial Department) of the Schedule of Board’s letter of even number dated 02-02-2017 (RBE.No.08/2017) prescribing rates of stipend stands modified as under:

Revision of Rates of Stipend for Ticket Collector in Railways

Consequent upon revision of Grade Pay Level of the category of Ticket Collector from GP 1900 to GP-2000 Pay Level-3 to vide Railway Board’s letter dated 02-8-2016, one of the Federations (AIRF) raised the issue of revision of rates of stipend to Ticket Collector Ticket Examiner. The matter has been considered and it has been decided to revise the rates of stipend of the category of Ticket Collector at S. No. 41. of the Schedule of Board’s letters of even number dated 02.02.2017 and 1 1-9-2018 as under:
