Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has received an impressive 152 proposals for new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across India over the last three years, as per their records. Currently, there are 1249 KVs nationwide that offer a uniform education program to the children of transferable Central Government Employees, Defence & Para-military personnel, Central Autonomous Bodies, Central Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and Central Institute of Higher Learning (IHL).
The establishment of new KVs is an ongoing process where sponsors such as Ministries or Departments of the Government of India/State Governments/Union Territories (UTs) Administrations play a crucial role in providing resources, including land and temporary accommodation that meet the established norms. Proposals must be approved by competent authorities to establish new KVs, and there are no state-wise, district-wise, or location-wise criteria. Despite public representatives’ requests, the State Government of Rajasthan has yet to fulfill KVS norms for new KVs in Sirohi district. All requests undergo processing and examination in accordance with KVS norms.
