Grant of Paid Holiday on Day of Poll
As per the Dopt Notification on 15th March 2021 and Tamil Nadu G.O. Ms No 160 dated on 16 March 2021, General Elections to Legislative Assembly in Tamil Nadu will be held on 6th April 2021 has declared of the poll day as Public Holiday.
Recently the Election Commission of India has notified the General Elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal & Puducherry and Bye Elections to the House of the People and Legislative Assemblies of various states.
Grant of Paid Holiday on the Day of Poll to Employees working in Central and State Governments.
What says the Section 135B in the Representation of the People Act, 1951:
“Every person employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishment and entitled to vote at an election to the House of the People or the Legislative Assembly of a State shall, on the day of poll, be granted a holiday”.
