Decision on post lockdown Rail travel and booking – Govt Clarification on 10 April 2020

Publication of media reports on travel protocol etc of trains passengers on resumption of train services : Advisory for Media

During the last two days, there have been some reports in media about various protocols etc of prospective travellers by trains. They have also been mentioning about number of trains starting from a given date.

It may be brought to the notice of media that final decision regarding above matters is yet to be taken and pre mature reporting on such matters is leading to unnecessary and avoidable speculation in the minds of public in such extraordinary times.

Its humbly requested and advised that media may consider to avoid publishing on the basis of unconfirmed or unverified matters which may lead to such speculation.

‪For the post lockdown Rail travel, Railways would take best feasible decisions in the interest of all stake holders including its prospective passengers.

‪As and when a decision is taken, all concerned would be intimated about it.

CANCELLATION OF ALL TRAIN SERVICES BY INDIAN RAILWAYS

RAILWAYS IN THE WAKE OF COVID-19

For trains cancelled by Indian Railways, full refund will be provided automatically by IRCTC. Users need not cancel their e-tickets. Full fare will be credited back into users accounts from which payment was made.

  • Do I need to cancel ticket if train is cancelled?
    No, You don’t need to cancel the ticket.In case of cancellation of trains in its complete journey by Indian Railways,there is no need for cancellation of tickets by users.Refund process is fully automatic in such cases. No action required on the part of users. Users are also requested not to give response to any false call received in this regard of claiming fast refund asking for your credentials in any form. IRCTC never asks for user credentials for making refund.
  • How much refund will I get if I cancel my train ticket?
    If a user cancels his ticket he will get refund as per Railway Refund rules as per the time limits for refund of cancelled tickets. In case of train cancellation by Indian Railways, users are advised not to cancel their tickets as full refund will be processed automatically by IRCTC on the following day of the train journey.
  • Where will I get refund of my train ticket?
    In case of cancellation of trains, automatic full refund of fare on confirmed or RAC e-tickets shall be directly credited to the same account from which booking transaction took place and online cancellation or filing of TDR shall not be required in such case.
  • When will I get refund of my train ticket?
    If train is cancelled, e-ticket refund will be automatically credited to
    customer’s account from which ticket was booked. The refund process will take 3 to 7 working days from the scheduled departure of the train.
  • How can I track cancellation status of my cancelled ticket?
    If train is cancelled, e-ticket will be automatically cancelled and user will receive SMS informing him/her about the cancellation of e-ticket.

  • How can I track Refund status of my cancelled ticket?

  • I got the news that no trains will be running till 14th April 2020, but when I cancelled the ticket for this, full refund was not provided.
    In the current COVID-19 situation, IRCTC advises users not to cancel their etickets as it will be automatically cancelled. If user has cancelled any such ticket and have got partial refund, IRCTC will process rest refund amount into user’s account through an automated process. IRCTC is continuously working on refunds to e-ticket customers for cancellation of trains. Users are advised not to get worried in case of less refunds as rest amount will get credited in few days.
  • Trains till 14th April 2020 have been cancelled, but my ticket has not been cancelled so far.
    In case Train has been cancelled, users are advised to relax as tickets
    cancellations are in process and automatic refunds will be credited to your account from which it was booked. User need not cancel or complain. Please cooperate with us. IRCTC Alert Message.

Railway Clarification About Ticket Reservation After 14th April 2020

In view of certain media reports that Railways has started reservation for post lock down period, It is clarified that reservation for journeys post 14th April was never stopped and is not related to any new announcement.

CLARIFICATION ON ADVANCE BOOKING

A section of media is reporting that Railways has resumed ticket booking from 15th April, which is not correct. It is clarified that booking of reserved train tickets never stopped except for the lock down period i.e 24th March to 14th April. Since, Advance reservation period for taking reserved ticket is 120 days, ticket bookings for 15th April and beyond were made open much prior to lock down period.

In the wake of COVID-19 and as a measure of abundant caution, booking has been suspended for trains running between 22-Mar-2020 and 14-Apr-2020

For trains cancelled by Indian Railways, full refund will be provided automatically by IRCTC. Users need not cancel their e-tickets. Full fare will be credited back into users accounts from which payment was made.

Blankets and curtains not to be available in AC coaches, other linen will continue. Please travel safely/suitably. Inconvenience regretted.

सीओवीआईडी-19 चेतावनी:

सीओवीआईडी -19 के मद्देनजर और उचित सावधानी के लिए, 22-मार्च-2020 और 14 अप्रैल-2020 के बीच चलने वाली ट्रेनों के लिए बुकिंग निलंबित कर दी गई है।

भारतीय रेलवे द्वारा रद्द की गई ट्रेनों के लिए, पूर्ण वापसी आईआरसीटीसी द्वारा स्वचालित रूप से प्रदान की जाएगी। उपयोगकर्ताओं को अपने ई-टिकट को रद्द करने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। पूर्ण किराया वापस उन उपयोगकर्ताओं के खातों में जमा किया जाएगा, जहाँ से भुगतान किया गया था।

एसी कोचों में कंबल और पर्दे उपलब्ध नहीं होंगे। अन्य लिनन उपलब्ध रहेगा। कृपया सुरक्षित/ सुविधाजनक यात्रा करें। असुविधा के लिए खेद है।”
