Composite Salary Account Package for Central Government Employees: The Ministry of Finance, through the Department of Financial Services (DFS), has launched a new Composite Salary Account Package for Central Government Employees in collaboration with Public Sector Banks (PSBs). This unified framework aims to provide employees with a one-stop financial solution integrating modern banking services, comprehensive insurance coverage, and digital enhancements under a single salary account structure.
Launch of the Composite Salary Account Package
The Salary Account Package was officially launched by Sh. M. Nagaraju, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, in the presence of:
- Chairman, State Bank of India
- MDs & CEOs of all Nationalized Banks
- CEO, NPCI (via video conference)
- Senior officers of DFS
This initiative aligns with the Government’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the national mission of Insurance for All by 2047. It is designed to ensure uniform access to financial and insurance benefits for Central Government employees across all groups — A, B and C.
Key Components of the Composite Salary Account Package
The product is structured around three major segments: Banking, Insurance and Digital/Card Features. Together, they offer a holistic financial solution.
1. Banking Facilities
- Zero-balance salary account with enhanced features
- Free RTGS, NEFT, UPI and cheque facilities
- Concessional interest rates on loans (housing, education, vehicle, personal)
- Concession on loan processing charges
- Waivers on locker rental
- Family banking benefits
2. Enhanced Insurance Coverage
- Personal Accident Insurance up to ₹1.50 crore
- Air Accident Insurance up to ₹2 crore
- Permanent Total & Partial Disability Cover up to ₹1.50 crore
- Term Life Insurance: Up to ₹20 lakh (with affordable top-up options)
- Health Insurance: Comprehensive coverage for self and family, with base and top-up plans available
3. Digital & Card Features
- Enhanced debit and credit card offerings
- Airport lounge access, attractive reward programs, and cashback benefits

Objective of the Composite Salary Account Package

DFS has also advised Public Sector Banks to:
- Publicize the package widely through their official websites

- Proactively inform employees about the new package
- Assist employees in migrating existing salary accounts to the new package (with consent)
