AICPIN Data for May 2026 – Dearness Allowance (DA) Calculation for Central Government Employees and Pensioners
The Labour Bureau, under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, has officially released the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) (Base Year: 2016=100) for May 2026. This latest AICPIN data is one of the most significant indicators used to calculate the upcoming Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for Central Government employees, officers, and pensioners under the 7th Central Pay Commission.
According to the official press release, the All-India CPI-IW for May 2026 increased by 0.9 points, rising from 149.9 in April 2026 to 150.8 in May 2026. The year-on-year inflation rate for May 2026 stands at 4.72%, compared to 2.93% recorded during the corresponding month of May 2025. This increase in the Consumer Price Index strengthens the DA calculation process and provides a clearer indication of the expected Dearness Allowance revision.
The Labour Bureau compiles the CPI-IW every month based on retail price data collected from 317 markets across 88 industrially important centres throughout India, making it the official and most reliable benchmark for DA and DR calculations.
