Contribution for One Time (Single Payment) CGHS Card for Pensioners

LIFETIME CENTRAL GOVERNMENT HEALTH SCHEME (CGHS) CARD

Monthly Subscription in CGHS (Calculation with example)

Pensioners can join in the scheme of CGHS on yearly basis also. It should be full calendar year from January to December. If one joins in the middle of the year, the calculation of subscription is carried out up to the month of December of next year. For example, a pensioner retired in the pay level of 6 and he wants to join in the scheme of CGHS for one year from December. To obtain the CGHS card, he has to pay the amount for 13 months of subscription. A total of Rs. 5850 (13 x 450=5850).

Lifetime Subscription in CGHS (Calculation with example)

The lifetime membership registration in CGHS is very simple. Pensioners have to pay the subscription (according to your pay level as per 7th CPC) amount for ten years (120 months) as one-time payment for a lifetime membership. For example, a pensioner retired in the pay level of 6 and he wants to join in the scheme of CGHS for a lifetime membership. To obtain the CGHS card, he has to pay the amount for 120 months of subscription. A total of Rs. 54,000 (120 x 450=54000).

Fees for CGHS Card

Every pensioner has to pay Rs. 30 for his CGHS Master card. The card fee amount will be collected at the time of joining.

CGHS Lifetime Subscription Table

7th Pay Commission Salary Scale  Contribution per month Lifetime Contribution
Pay Level from 1 to 5 Rs. 250 Rs. 30,000

LIFETIME CARD: CGHS Card for Central Government Pensioners – Contribution as above depending on the Last grade pay at the time of retirement. The choice is with the individual. One can apply for a Life time card by paying 10 years’ contribution together or one can apply for one year, two years etc. by paying for that applicable period.

The Plastic Cards (which are identity cards), would hereinafter be issued with validity till the pensioner beneficiary is entitled for CGHS benefits. In respect of pensioner CGHS beneficiaries, who have paid CGHS contribution for ‘Rest of Life’ CGHS facilities, the Plastic Cards would, hereinafter, be issued for ‘Rest of Life’.

The ownership of CGHS Card can be transferred in the name of spouse on submission of required documents.

No extra payment to be made, in case of life time cards.

However in other cases one has to pay 10 years subscription for life time card For example, if the spouse had contributed for seven years before he expired , balance payment for the remaining three years is to be paid for a life time card.

Since you are getting FMA you are not eligible to reimburse the same. You have to surrender the FMA facility & pay for of last subscription 120 months & from the retirement period and get the life time CGHS CARD for full family.

There are more empanelled hospitals in Madurai for emergency treatment. If you want CGHS CARD for every year and renew it, after such years you can pay the balance years and make it as life time card .If you don’t require card you can avail the facility of FIXED MEDICAL ALLOWANCE of ₹ 1,000/-p.m.

In case she pays Rs.1.20lakhs for lifetime CGHS plastic card and likely to avail em-paneled hospital treatment etc, is there any Income Tax rebate can she claim (CGHS subscription she pays Rs1000 p.m while in service has Income tax rebate under Sec80D I suppose with year to year ceiling fixed by the UoI) for the current Assessment year or for future years since Rs.1.2Lakhs is beyond the yearly Sec 80D ceilings.
